Coronavirus Vaccine: Myths and Facts

Started in 2019, the Coronavirus is still spreading faster instead of getting subsided and its current strains are more fatal ones. Governments around the globe are instructing their citizen to get vaccinated as soon as possible. But the social media is proving itself more of a curse than a blessing and various misconceptions and rumors are being circulated on the internet making ordinary people reluctant about taking the vaccine shot.

In this article, we will try to debunk some of the myths and reinforce some of the facts regarding Covid vaccination.

The second dose of the Covid vaccine is usually administered after an interval of 6 to 21 days to evaluate both the effects and side effects of the first dose. We are in the trial phase of the Coronavirus vaccine and the medical experts don’t know the 100 percent results of all such newly invented vaccines. Different individuals react differently to the vaccine. That puts a troubling question in the minds of the public of whether to get vaccinated or not. Some people don’t seem serious at all, some are reluctant and many are afraid.

Should everyone get vaccinated?

The answer is yes. The vaccine won’t make you fully safe from the virus, but it can make the symptoms less serious in case you get infected. Even after getting vaccinated, being careful and following the SOP’s is necessary; keeping the six feet distance from others, using a face mask, washing hands with soap frequently, avoiding mass gatherings, etc.

Does the vaccine have negative effects?

Yes, the vaccine shot does produce some negative effects in the receiving person as well as positive ones. Many people feel no side effects at all. So it’s all about individual differences. The unwanted effects of the vaccine include palpitation, difficulty in breathing, muscle pain, fatigue, headache, hypertension, skin rash, fever, diarrhea, and pain at the injection site, etc. One has to get fully evaluated by the professionals before getting a vaccine shot, especially people aging above 60.

Does smoking protect you from Coronavirus?

No. This is just a myth. Actually, doctors suggest taking steam to corona patients to clear their noses/throats and to ease their lungs. From it, some people wrongly deduced that smoking cigarettes would do the same benefits. Smoking, in fact, makes you more vulnerable to Covid as it weakens the lungs’ immunity. Moreover, a cigarette may be a career of the virus as it touches your lips directly.

Does the third strain causes no symptoms?

Some people think that the third strain is more fatal because it doesn’t cause any symptoms. That is not true. The common symptoms of Covid-19 according to WHO’s official site are fever, dry cough, fatigue, and less frequent, skin rash, watery eyes, bad throat, taste deprivation, change of fingers’ color, etc. The more serious symptoms that need immediate hospitalization are chest pain and difficulty in breathing.

Should pregnant women get vaccinated?

Yes. Pregnant women need an immunity boost to assure protection of themselves and their expected babies.

In coping with the Covid challenge, a much greater responsibility lies on the shoulders of the print, electronic and social media to promote awareness and persuading the ordinary public to be extremely cautious and responsible. The key point is:

No one is safe until everyone is safe!

Inadequate sleep in children is a serious issue, as it negatively affects their educational and co-curriculum activities. An expert researcher on sleep-related disorders,  Carl E. Hunt,  from George Washington University School of Medicine, says, “Sweet and enough sleep is as important as a healthy diet for a growing kid.” But how to persuade children to sleep early and adequately? Here are few things you can do: 1)   Cut coffee at night  --- Discourage your child taking cola drinks after taking dinner. Keep an eye on his or her favorite street foods that may contain caffeine. 2)   Unplug your child from gadgets  ---  An hour before sleep time, do not allow your child to play video games or sitting before TV or computer. Eat Healthy, Stay Happy

Eat Healthy, Stay Happy   You would know the effects of a healthy diet on the physical body; a good diet promotes health and a bad one makes us sick. But do you know what we eat also affects our mental health and our emotions? It means our emotions not only respond to positive or negative situations but are also colored by the variety of foods we consume on daily basis. Latest medical research has been showing that our brains and nerves absorb the nutrients present in our daily diet more than any other organ of the body and we know our brains and nerves are the organs that regulate our emotional moods. Our brain absorbs three basic nutrients from the diet: 1) Vitamins and minerals 2) Enzymes and proteins 3) and Glucose. Hypo/Hyperglycemia and Our Moods A common reason of bipolar moods is low sugar levels in our blood. As the brain gets its energy from glucose, any sweet thing we eat does affect our mood swings. When we drink coffee or eat chocolate, it rapi...
