General Health Care

Usually, our general attitude towards health and well-being is rather casual, leaving everything on the fate; ‘whatever will happen will happen, so no need to be too cautious!’ But in reality, this is not how things work in the physical world. Diseases that take a middle-aged person to the graveyard or make an old person paralyzed or force someone to have an early retirement from his or her job, are not matters of fate. We contract them by not taking the recommended precautionary measures.

Careful consideration will show that all such health disasters do have their earlier warning signs that, if taken seriously, can help in forecasting the coming dangers and we can surely avoid them by making positive changes in our daily diet and lifestyle. In fact, we can keep several health issues at bay or at least put a delay on them, by just learning some preventive habits and these simple but healthy habits can bring a huge amount of blessings in our lives regarding our general well-being.

You would have heard talks like; “Ah, he suddenly got a fatal heart attack at his workplace… The person was on a business trip when he or she got a stroke… That person was living a quite happy life before he or she committed suicide…” That kind of news terrifies ordinary people making them believe that diseases are some kind of mysterious and unseen monsters that catch you from nowhere. But the most worrisome aspect of that common belief is that this actually makes people careless instead of making them cautious about their health.

If we analyze all such tragic deaths and sudden ailments, it is not hard to figure out their natural causes that gradually made their effects upon those unfortunate individuals. If we could keep that fact in mind, the fear of such fatal incidents would be replaced by a cautious attitude.

It is a well-known strategy of combat to know all the tactics of your enemy and then to prepare yourself accordingly. Likewise, a prior understanding of the causes and aetiologies of fatal diseases can help us in defending ourselves easily without getting panic.

Life is a precious gift of God and living a healthy life is our duty as the giftee. Today, thanks to scientific technologies, we have several options to detect a health danger before it strikes us; blood tests, x-rays, CT scans, etc. An annual medical check-up along with preventive measures and a healthy lifestyle can ensure a considerable decrease in the health risks.

It is worth mentioning that once bad spirits, ghosts, and other supernatural forces were thought of as a major threat to human health. Then entered the germs and environmental pollutions into the scene as the villains. But in the modern age, there are some other factors too that can affect our health indirectly. We are living in an age where cultural values are changing rapidly and consequently, we are experiencing some radical variations in our psycho-social attitudes. Social media has introduced a completely new form of expressing our personalities online which may not have very positive implications for our mental health.

Experts are still busy scratching out the potential health risks embedded in the modern way of living. But one thing is certain; our healthcare habits should also be changing with the changing world. We should mend our strategies according to the new challenges. At present, negative interpersonal relations are bigger threats to people’s health than bacteria.

No doubt, there is no final word in different ongoing health studies and medical researches all around the globe, but in every age, some health issues become so evident that ignoring them is by no means a sane act; it could be a very costly price to pay in terms of your personal health.

Eat Healthy, Stay Happy

Eat Healthy, Stay Happy   You would know the effects of a healthy diet on the physical body; a good diet promotes health and a bad one makes us sick. But do you know what we eat also affects our mental health and our emotions? It means our emotions not only respond to positive or negative situations but are also colored by the variety of foods we consume on daily basis. Latest medical research has been showing that our brains and nerves absorb the nutrients present in our daily diet more than any other organ of the body and we know our brains and nerves are the organs that regulate our emotional moods. Our brain absorbs three basic nutrients from the diet: 1) Vitamins and minerals 2) Enzymes and proteins 3) and Glucose. Hypo/Hyperglycemia and Our Moods A common reason of bipolar moods is low sugar levels in our blood. As the brain gets its energy from glucose, any sweet thing we eat does affect our mood swings. When we drink coffee or eat chocolate, it rapi...
